Meraki Does What Google Left Undone.....

Meraki, a start up based on the academic project at MIT is all set to take off from where google and earthlink had left. Google and EarthLink had earlier announced that they would coverup the city of San Francisco with their WiFi network and that it would be free. The plan didn’t work out as EarthLink pulled out august last year.

Now Meraki, a start up by MIT PhD student Sanjit Biswas 25, is all set to complete what google and earthlink had announced. It is reported that Merakiis planning to achieve this by spending just US$5 million . Merki plans to host many repeaters on top of houses which will form a mesh network. The idea is an out come of a project done at MIT.

Investors have offered the company an additional US$20 million in venture capital to fund the move. Apparently google is also one of the investors in the company. This would be an experiment and R&D for Meraki, if the project is a success it plans to offer the same to other cities too, But its a big doubt if this would replace the broadband connections as a major means of getting connected...

very informative post frnd.....
Its really a very good project which Meraki is going to do but don't u think that i will affect broadband and other medium of internet and their employees. As a customer its a miracle comes true but what about companies which are there in this business because their business will be affected badly....
